President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa as his Senior Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora. She is a three-term former member of the Nigeria Federal House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Constituency in Lagos State.
She was the chair person of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora in the last assembly and has also been the chair person of the House Committee on Media & Publicity.
She was a vocal member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign team touring the length and breadth of the nation in the buildup to the 2015 general elections.
The former journalist turned politician sponsored a number of significant bills that were passed by Parliament, including the very important Freedom of Information Bill and the Nigerian Diaspora Commission Bill.
Abike obtained her first degree in English Language from the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife, and a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Mass Communication as well as a Master’s degree in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos. She also studied at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, USA.
