Enjoy the cartoon below on the former Niger Delta Militant, Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo as featured by the Punch. The cartoon depicts the perception of Tompolo vis a vis his on-going legal problems with Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
I guess you should not be missing the Punch, they really have some killer punch cartoons. Very apt and vivid.
Story behind the cartoon
Tompolo was a powerful and influential former Niger Delta Militant. He was one of the ex-militants that took up the amnesty offer of the last administration. He went on be highly influential in the last regime and enjoyed an alleged strong connections in the presidency.
Fast forward to 2016, there is a “new sheriff in town”. Seems the connections and influence is fast fading.
EFCC has dragged him to the court where there is a pending 40-count of alleged N45.9bn fraud against Tompolo and nine others before Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court in Lagos
But while his alleged accomplices had been attending court, Tompolo had repeatedly snubbed court summons issued on him, making the judge to issue two separate warrants for his arrest.
